So what is Swapping exactly?
Think of it as credits. Bring an item in and get a credit to bring an item from SwapIt home. Members can bring in items to swap at any time over the course of their membership. 

Every item swapped in is worth one Swap Credit. This creates real value in the items you already have in your closet – every single item you own could be swapped for a new-to-you item from our closet, whether you want an update because of life changes, size changes, or simply to experiment with new styles and keep things fresh. 

How does Swapping work?
It’s easy. Step 1: Sign up for a membership. Step 2: Start swapping. Give something up from your closet, get something new from our closet. Step 3: Repeat as often as you like, for a whole new wardrobe experience.

What exactly can be swapped in?
We will accept women's clothing, scarves, bras, shoes (each pair counts as one item), and bags for swap credit. There are no restrictions related to maternity wear, seasonal clothing, brand, style, size, etc. All items should be clean and dry when they are swapped in. 

You can also bring in jewelry, sunglasses, hats, belts, and other accessories but you cannot receive swap credit for these items. 

What about the condition of the inventory?
Because we are committed to sustainability, we accept clean items in any condition. We inspect every item and we only put items on the floor that are in conditions we consider gently-loved to brand-new-with-tags. All items that are not suitable for the floor go to our recycling partner, so nothing ends up in landfills. If you ever see an item that you don’t think belongs on the floor because of its condition, please let us know.

Can I bring other old clothing or textiles to SwapIt for recycling/upcycling? Yes! We have a partnership with Helpsy, a company that takes any clothing from us that doesn't work for SwapIt. They will either sell it or upcycle it. What that means is that you can bring in any clothing to SwapIt and we will take care of it for you! You can bring in kids’ clothing, mens’ clothing, bags, belts, damaged or stained items, towels, or whatever clothing or textiles you want to ditch. We just ask that you bring it in in a separate bag that we can keep. Please also bring those items in clean and dry. 

What can be swapped out (taken home) from SwapIt’s inventory? 
Clothing, bras and scarves are the only items that can be swapped out. 

What cannot be swapped out are shoes, bags, jewelry, sunglasses, hats, belts, or other accessories. Those items can be purchased for an additional fee.

When are you open?
At this time, we do not have a fixed schedule. Every month, we offer a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend hours and we send out our availability to members each week in our “Your Swaps Covered” email. You can also check Vagaro, our online booking system at any time for the most up to date hours. Don’t forget that you are required to sign up for a time slot in order to swap with us.  

What is Swap Time?
This is the core benefit of your Swap Membership. Swap Time refers to the members-only store hours when you can come in to browse and swap the store. It's your chance to drop off swaps, take home new items you will love and swap in items you’re done with. Kids under 13 are welcome to join you, kids 14 and older require a membership (see Guests at SwapIt). No other guests are allowed during Swap Time. You have to sign up for Swap Time via Vagaro, our online booking system. At this time, we do not have a fixed schedule, so please check Vagaro often for available hours. Please note: SwapIt’s in-house stylist is not available during Swap Time; that is a separate service you can book. Swap Time is included with your membership; there is no additional fee.


How do I sign up for Swap Time?
You can sign up for Swap Time using Vagaro, our online booking platform. If you haven’t used Vagaro before, it might take some getting used to, but we promise it’s super easy.

Step 2: Using the drop down menu that says “Any Class,” select “Swap Time.”
Step 3: Select an available time. Note that you can use the calendar feature to navigate different weeks and see additional availability.
Step 4: Once you’ve selected the date and time you want, click “Sign Up.” Note that this will open a pop-up that shows a price of $147. Don’t worry! See below.
Step 5: Click “Next.” You’ll be prompted to sign in using your email address. As long as you are a Swap Member in good standing, the price will change to $0 once you’re signed in and add the Swap Time to your cart.
Step 6: Complete the checkout process following the onscreen instructions. Again, if you are a Swap Member in good standing, there should be no charge.
You’re all set!

Important Note: You will receive a confirmation email from Vagaro once you’ve successfully signed up for your Swap Time. If you don’t receive the email within an hour, it means the transaction didn’t go through and you should try again. What is a Basic Swap & Style?

As a member, you have access to our personal stylists. To take advantage of this benefit, book a Basic Swap & Style session and you and the stylist will work one-on-one (or invite a small group of friends to join you; the friends do not have to be members) in order to maximize your experience with the SwapIt inventory. During your Basic Swap & Style session, you (or you and your friends) will have the whole store to yourselves. SwapIt’s stylists have a background in fashion and have been trained by SwapIt. The stylist will help you shop the floor to find items to take into the dressing room; help you match up pieces to create versatile outfits; and show you style tricks to help you jazz up individual pieces and make your outfits into a complete look. The stylist will take the guesswork out of picking and pairing items. She will make your swapping trip easy and successful, leaving you feeling stress-free and with an armful of exciting new outfits. As a member, you get unlimited swaps during this session. Your non-member guests will receive 10 swaps to share among themselves. While most personal styling services will cost hundreds of dollars an hour, SwapIt’s commitment to affordability and accessibility means that you can get this great service for only $30 per hour.

When you book a private time you can also request a specific category of clothing that we offer. The categories include:
*Maternity 
*Plus size 
*Sleep wear
*Formal Wear
*Jeans 

Maternity, plus size, and sleepwear are not put out on the floor without a request. We do have a selection of formal wear and jeans on the floor at all times, but we can offer a much bigger selection to you during your Basic Swap & Style session if you give us a heads up when you book. 

What is Sip & Swap?
This kid free time (aka no kids allowed) to swap, relax and get the looks you love is also a great chance to bring a friend with you! Guests are $10 with two swaps included. We will also provide something bubbly to sip! This is available to members and their pre-registered guests only and is included with your membership.


How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
No problem if you need to cancel or reschedule. Here is how:
Step 1: In your confirmation email, there is a button labeled “View My Appointments.” Click it.
Step 2: It will prompt you to sign in (if you are not already signed in). Once you sign in, you will see a list of your upcoming appointments.
Step 3: Find the appointment you want to cancel or reschedule and click the More drop-down.
Step 4: Then, you can choose to Cancel or Reschedule.

Where can I park?
There is metered pull-in parking right out front. If that is full, there is a metered parking lot on Yale Street just around the corner. We suggest not parking on a side street, as most of those are permit-parking only.

How many swaps do I get with my membership?
Unlimited one-to-one swaps. Give something up from your closet, get something new from our closet. Think of it as credits. Bring an item in and get a credit to bring an item from SwapIt home. Members can bring in items to swap at any time over the course of their membership. Every item swapped in is worth one Swap Credit, regardless of what the item is. 

How do I see my Swap Credits?
Swap Credits are stored in our system. Feel free to bring in items any time the store is open. Swaps do not need to be used the same day. We send out weekly emails updating you on your swap credits. You can also email us anytime to find out how many swap credits you have.

What if I have a negative Swap Credit?
If you see a minus sign (-) in front of your Swap Credit, that means you have taken home more items than you have brought in. That is totally allowed and you have your entire membership to get your Swap Credits back into the positive. However, if you have a negative Swap Credit balance at the end of your membership, you will be charged $5 per negative swap. Keep in mind that we email you your updated Swap Credit balance every week, so you can plan accordingly.

When can I use my swaps?
You can use your swaps at any designated Swap Time, Basic Swap & Style session, SwapIt-hosted events, or any time you are in the store. Please note that Swap Time is free with your membership while other booking options can be purchased as you go. Appointments are required for all visits to the store and you can make an appointment using Vagaro, our online scheduling
system.
Can I share swaps?
No. SwapIt’s membership-based business model was designed to maximize sustainability, affordability, and value for our members. Sharing swaps would drive up costs and create inventory issues. What that means is that you can only use your Swap Credits for yourself. Please do not use Swap Credits for friends or family, including taking items home and gifting them to others. Additionally, your guests will not be allowed to draw from your Swap Credits when they are in the store with you. You may also be interested in our Friends & Family Membership that allows people sharing a household to get full membership benefits at a significant discount. 
Can I add someone to my membership?
We know that friends and family who share a home will often share clothes. We’re pleased to offer a new Friends & Family Membership that allows any member to add on additional household members to their primary membership. The original member is referred to as the Primary Member and the additional member(s) is the Friends & Family Member(s).

  *The Friends & Family Membership is intended for people who live in the same household. It cannot be extended to friends or family who live in a separate household.
  *For teens ages 13 - 17, the Friends & Family Membership costs $50 annually (in addition to the primary membership fee associated with the original member).
  *For those ages 18+, the Friends & Family Membership costs $75 annually (in addition to the primary membership fee associated with the original member).
  *When the Primary Member’s membership needs to be renewed, so does the Friends & Family Membership.
  *The Primary Member and the Friends & Family Member will share Swap Credits. Both members contribute to and draw down from the same Swap Credit account.
  *The Primary Member and Friends & Family Member can come in together or separately and can book their appointments using Vagaro following the usual process.
  *There are no limits to the number of additional Friends & Family Members.

For example, if Tiffany is a current member (at $147 annually), and she lives with her mom, Sarah, then they are able to take advantage of the Friends & Family Membership with an additional $75 annually to cover Sarah.

If Rachelle is a current member (at $147 annually), and she lives with her daughter Chloe, who is 15, then they are able to take advantage of the Friends & Family Membership with an additional $50 annually to cover Chloe.

If Wendy is a current member and her sister Beth lives in another household, they are not eligible for a Friends & Family Membership.

What happens to my swaps when my membership ends?
Swap Credits are valid for length of membership. Any swaps not used by the end of your membership are lost and are not eligible for swapping or monetary value. However, if you renew your membership, swaps will be carried over.

What if I have a negative Swap Credit balance at the end of my membership?
If you have a negative Swap Credit balance at the end of your membership, you will be charged $5 per negative swap. Keep in mind that we email you your updated Swap Credit balance every week, so you can plan accordingly.

How do the Facebook Live “What Got Swapped In” video’s work?
Every Monday, we post a live video on our Facebook page (@aswappinggoodtime) where we show off items that have come in, but aren’t on the floor yet. Members can comment on the video to claim items. The items will be waiting for their new owner at SwapIt’s front desk. Please note: While we work to get those items to the store as quickly as possible, they may not be there for your next visit. 
Guests At SwapIT

My Mom/Sister/Bestie/Neighbor is not a Swap Member, but I am. How can I bring them to the store?

First of all, why are they not members?! ;) 

There are two ways to bring guests to SwapIt.

1) Book a Basic Swap & Style session. This allows you to bring up to 5 non-member guests with you to the store. During your Basic Swap & Style session, you and your guests will have the whole store to yourselves and get personalized attention from our stylist. SwapIt’s stylists have a background in fashion and have been trained by SwapIt. The stylist will help you shop the floor to find items to take into the dressing room; help you match up pieces to create versatile outfits; and show you style tricks to help you jazz up individual pieces and make your outfits into a complete look. The stylist will take the guesswork out of picking and pairing items. She will make your swapping trip easy and successful, leaving you feeling stress-free and with an armful of exciting new outfits. As a member, you get unlimited swaps during this session. Your non-member guests will receive 10 swaps to share among themselves. While most personal styling services will cost hundreds of dollars an hour, SwapIt’s commitment to affordability and accessibility means that you can get this great service for only $30 per hour.

2) Book a Sip & Swap. This allows you to register guests for just $10 each. This includes 2 swaps per guest. During a Sip & Swap you and your guests get to swap around on your own, and enjoy some bubbly. This is a kid free swapping experience so the adults can use the time to unwind and look for some great clothes.

How does swapping work for my guests?

As a swap member you can of course use your swaps any time you are at the store. When you bring a guest (which can only be done during a Basic Swap & Style session), your guests have two ways to shop with us:
     1) Share 10 swaps. During a Basic Swap & Style session, Your non-member guests will receive 10 swaps to share among themselves during the session. Please note the 10 swaps are per group, not per person.
     2) Pay Per Piece-- Your non-member guests can also purchase additional items rather than swapping them. Items are priced by item type; it starts at $3 for a scarf and maxes out at $15 for a dress. Remember, swapping means your guests give something up from their closets in exchange for something from SwapIt.

Allowing your guests to use your swaps is not an option.


What is a Friends & Family membership?
 
We know that friends and family who share a home will often share clothes. We’re pleased to offer a new Friends & Family Membership that allows any member to add on additional household members to their primary membership. The original member is referred to as the Primary Member and the additional member(s) is the Friends & Family Member(s).
